It's been 3 years and I kinda have to say this: you were right about everything. the simulation aspects, immersion, farming, armor skills, "quality of life", you're completely right about all of it. the only thing I partly disagree is the hitbox stuff, but looking at how generous they became with world or how I became a greatsword main due to the insanely OP defensive properties of the shoulder bash, I might just be in denial. You were right. I think I'll check out Dos... and if I'm not enjoying it, I'll just make a new freedom unite save... I played rise for about 15 hours and fell off completely from the entire franchise, it was that awful of an experience for me. I had similar disdain for the guiding lands in iceborne though I did enjoy base world quite a bit. but 13 years of being a diehard monster hunter fan and rise completely blew it. I can still go back to the game I grew up with, freedom 2/unite, and have a blast (I played through most of G rank after dropping rise, loved it). But any modern incarnation or future title I'm just completely not interested. I thought I liked the chocolate, but seems like it was the mint all along. Oh well, atleast it led to me discovering the souls series.

Some of us don't have the income to track down original hardware or build a gaming pc.I do still play the old titles on original hardware. My wii u gamepad will no longer hold a charge so I have to be tethered the entire time I play my 2ds(never had enough money for the 3ds) thumbstick drifts and I don't have a pc so emulation is out of the question. But I do have a switch and I would love ports of the old games.
